Ironworks Gym . Maidstone |
|
|
Bloomfields achieved planning permission for a change of use of an industrial unit to form a gym in Parkwood, Maidstone. The Ironworks Gymnasium is a state of the art modern facility covering 160 square metres of floor space.
Maidstone Borough Council granted approval for a temporary three year period in June 2010 so that the situation could be reviewed in 2013. This is because the loss of industrial premises is normally resisted, but an exception was made in this case thanks to the arguments advanced. There were no structural alterations to the vacant unit, it has been let and subsequently created local employment plus improved local leisure facilities.

Medway Park . Gillingham |
|
Anna acted as Planning Consultant in the team who achieved planning permission for improvements at Medway Park, the new centre of sporting excellence. The proposal, at the former the Black Lion Leisure Centre, was for a new link building, all weather 8-lane athletics track incorporating football pitch, sculptured mound to form a spectator embankment, new multi-purpose sports hall with changing facilities and disabled access.
A total investment of £11.1m was made into the project, with £5m of government funding and £3m from the University of Kent at Medway to provide state-of-the-art sports science and sports therapy for both academic and commercial purposes.
Medway Park was chosen as the venue for world sporting events such as the Modern Pentathlon World Cup, Kent International Judo, National Tetrathlon Championships and Grand Prix table tennis tournament for 2010. It will also host the British Transplant Games in 2012. Medway Park has been approved by London 2012 organisers as a train
ing camp for Olympic and Paralympic sports.
Medway Park forms an integral part of Chatham's bid to become a World Heritage Site and will be the official sports and activities zone of the new Great Lines Heritage Park.
Client: Medway Council. Opened April 2010.
